Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a Specialty Technician I to join our Baltimore team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The role involves field-based testing, inspections of structural steel, welding observations, and non-destructive evaluation under supervision.

You will develop competency in testing methods, maintain field reports, and communicate with contractors and project managers while ensuring compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related experience
• High school diploma or GED
• Two specialty certifications applicable to the work performed; OSHA 10 may be required

Responsibilities

• Performs destructive and non-destructive testing on construction materials
• Inspects structural steel, reinforcing steel and connections (welded and bolted)
• Performs field observations and collects samples for testing
• Documents findings in accordance with engineering and inspection standards
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians and project managers
• Reports changes in site conditions and additional testing needs
• Performs inspections in fabrication facilities when required
• Prepares and submits daily field reports and documentation
• Performs basic calculations and data reduction tasks
• Maintains and organizes field testing equipment
• Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment
• Attends project meetings as requested
• Performs other specialty testing and inspection duties as assigned

Skills

Two years experience in related field

Strong communication skills

Dependable and detail-oriented

Proficiency with field reporting

Basic math and data documentation

Ability to interpret plans and specs

Ability to calibrate NDT equipment

Education

High school diploma or GED

Two specialty certifications applicable to the work performed

OSHA 10 may be required
