Job summary

The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is seeking a dependable Meter Services Specialist to read, install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain water meters for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This hands-on field role supports reliable water services for Greensboro residents and businesses.

You will work under a Crew Coordinator, service meters up to 2 inches, and assist with larger meters as needed while coordinating with customers and City staff.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• NC AWWA Meter Services Technician Certification or ability to obtain within 18 months.
• 1+ years of experience changing and troubleshooting water meters.
• Confined Space Certification or ability to attain within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Read water meters and investigate discrepancies.
• Install, repair, test, and maintain meters up to 2 inches and below.
• Assist Lead Meter Services Technician with large-meter work.
• Maintain meter communication devices and troubleshoot issues.
• Coordinate with customers and City staff on service concerns.
• Use tools for installations, repairs, testing, and maintenance.
