Job summary

The City of Gastonia is seeking a Meter Repair/Supervisor expert to oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of water meters and related equipment. You will supervise field crews, coordinate AMR system operations, and ensure accurate data entry in the Water Meter Inventory Module and billing system.

Requirements include high school diploma, several years in customer service and water metering, plus required certifications within specified timeframes. Valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent with supervisory experience.
• Five years of customer service experience and experience in water meters or related equipment.
• Training certificates in NIMS 100, 200, & 700 within twelve months of hire.
• Cross Connection Control Operator certification within eighteen months of hire.
• Water Meter Technician certification (AWWA/WEA) within eighteen months of hire.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and perform installation, maintenance, and repair of water meters and AMR equipment.
• Receive, process, and coordinate water/sewer service work orders and taps.
• Maintain data for water meters in billing and inventory systems; prepare reports.
• Coordinate installation/maintenance of AMR system and monitor meter readings.
• Inspect contractor-installed taps for conformance with city standards; supervise testing program.
• Initiate training for new employees and handle procurement processes.
