Cardiovascular Utilization Management Reviewer (Interventional Cardiologist)

What You’ll Do

• Provide expert reviews for cardiovascular cases, including procedures like cardiac catheterizations, interventions, and device implantations, especially when cases do not meet medical necessity guidelines or require further review.
• Conduct peer-to-peer discussions with providers to ensure appropriate, high-value care aligned with guidelines.
• Collaborate with leadership and clinical staff on complex cases and decision-making.
• Support Initial Clinical Reviewers with guidance and expertise.
• Provide clinical rationale for appeals.
• Discuss determinations with requesting physicians within regulatory timeframes.
• Use clinical guidelines and parameters to ensure consistency and compliance with policies and accreditation standards.
• Document communications accurately and timely.
• Participate in ongoing training.
• Assist in research activities related to utilization management, interpretation, and system support.
• Potentially serve as Medical Director for specific regions or health plans, overseeing utilization management.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS Degree
• Current, unrestricted clinical license
• State licensure in your residence and other required states
• Board certification in Interventional Cardiology or equivalent qualifications
• Strong clinical, management, communication, and organizational skills
• Passion for quality and value in healthcare
• Computer proficiency
• At least five years of cardiology practice preferred
• No exclusions or sanctions by health programs or legal actions by medical boards

Technical Requirements

High-speed internet (over 10 Mbps) and direct connection to home router required. These requirements may change with office reopenings.
