Cardiovascular Utilization Management Reviewer (Interventional Cardiologist)

What You’ll Do

• Provide expert reviews for cardiovascular cases, focusing on invasive/interventional procedures that do not meet initial medical necessity guidelines or require further review.
• Conduct peer-to-peer discussions with treating providers to ensure appropriate, high-value care aligned with clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with leadership and staff on complex cases to support decision-making.
• Guide Initial Clinical Reviewers and provide clinical rationale for appeals.
• Discuss determinations with requesting physicians within regulatory timeframes.
• Use medical review guidelines to ensure consistent, compliant reviews reflecting best practices.
• Document all communications accurately and timely.
• Participate in ongoing training and quality assurance processes.
• Assist senior leadership with research and system support as needed.
• Potentially serve as Medical Director for specific health plans or regions, overseeing utilization management.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS Degree with current, unrestricted license.
• Active Board Certification in Interventional Cardiology or equivalent qualifications.
• At least five years’ clinical experience in cardiology (preferred).
• Strong clinical, management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with computers and medical review tools.
• No current exclusions or sanctions by health programs or legal actions against medical licensure.

Technical Requirements

High-speed internet (>10 Mbps) and direct connection to home router are required. Technical requirements may change with office re-openings.
