Cardiovascular Utilization Management Reviewer (Interventional Cardiologist)

Join our Utilization Management team as a Field Medical Director, Cardiovascular Specialist, and use your expertise in interventional cardiology to help ensure high-value, evidence-based case reviews. What You’ll Do

• Provide expert reviews for cardiovascular cases, such as cardiac catheterizations, coronary interventions, endovascular procedures, and implantable devices.
• Conduct peer-to-peer discussions with treating providers to ensure appropriate, high-value care aligned with guidelines.
• Collaborate with leadership and clinical staff on complex cases and decision-making.
• Guide Initial Clinical Reviewers to ensure best practices.
• Provide clinical rationale for appeals and discuss determinations with requesting physicians within regulatory timeframes.
• Utilize medical review guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance with policies and accreditation standards.
• Document all communications accurately and timely.
• Participate in ongoing training and support research activities related to utilization management.
• Potentially serve as Medical Director for certain health plans or regions, overseeing utilization management activities.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS Degree with current, unrestricted license
• Board certification in Interventional Cardiology or equivalent qualifications
• At least five years of cardiology practice preferred
• Strong clinical, management, and communication skills
• Proficiency with computers and medical review tools
• No current exclusions or sanctions from health care programs

Technical Requirements

High-speed internet (>10 Mbps) and direct connection to home router required. These requirements may change with office re-openings.
