Job summary

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Forward Deployed Mechanical Engineer to bring technology from lab to fleet. You will deploy systems in real-world maritime environments, integrating payloads and debugging fielded hardware for mission success.

The role blends lab work with dockside and waterfront activities, requiring hands-on fabrication, rapid prototyping, and close collaboration with Electrical, Software, and Autonomy teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience on integrated mechanical/electromechanical systems in fielded or mission-critical environments.
• Hands-on expertise in mechanical assembly and fabrication (CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing).
• Hands-on expertise in rapid prototyping and system-level debugging.
• Proficiency with FEA (static, modal/vibration, shock).
• Experience designing electrical enclosures with thermal management and IP67+ sealing.

Responsibilities

• Design systems for mechanical integration on ASVs and maritime platforms.
• Lead rapid mechanical prototyping for field experiments and platform evolution.
• Perform mechanical bring-up, integration, and troubleshooting of subsystems.
• Own dockside and sea trials; install hardware and validate in operational environments.
• Drive design-for-assembly and deployment feedback into development.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Software, and Autonomy teams to harden designs.
• Interface with suppliers and fabrication shops for fast turnaround of components.
• Contribute to documentation and training to scale deployment and manufacturing.
