Job summary

Saronic Technologies in Austin, TX seeks a Forward Deployed Mechanical Engineer to bring our autonomous maritime platforms from lab to fleet. You will deploy systems in the real world, integrate mechanical payloads, debug hardware, and iterate designs in field environments between lab, fabrication spaces, and the waterfront.

The role requires a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, 3+ years in integrated mech/electromechanical systems, hands-on fabrication (CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing), CAD

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience on integrated mechanical/electromechanical systems, fielded or mission-critical environments.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and fabrication (CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing).
• Rapid prototyping and system-level debugging experience.
• FEA knowledge to validate parts and mounts; know when hand calcs suffice.

Responsibilities

• Design systems for mechanical integration of payloads on Autonomous Service Vessels and maritime platforms.
• Lead rapid mechanical prototyping for field experiments and platform evolution.
• Perform mechanical bring-up, integration and troubleshooting of subsystems.
• Own dockside and sea trials, install hardware, and validate in operational environments.
• Incorporate design-for-assembly and deployment feedback into product development.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Software and Autonomy teams to evolve designs.
• Interface with suppliers and fabrication shops for rapid component Turnarounds.
• Contribute to documentation and training to scale deployment and manufacturing.
