Job summary

The Beaver Excavating Co. is seeking a Field Mechanic responsible for inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs of our fleet and equipment across Ohio and neighboring states.

Travel and overnight stays are required to support job sites; candidate must handle mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics and use diagnostic software. A CDL and track record of reliable service are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on equipment repair.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have Class B CDL at minimum.
• Dealer or manufacturer training desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conducts vehicle/equipment inspections.
• Conducts preventative maintenance and repair on vehicle/equipment.
• Identifies, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems.
• Evaluates equipment failures, determines cause and completes timely and effective repairs.

Job description

The Field Mechanic position is responsible for vehicle/equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs of vehicles and equipment.

This position requires regular travel and overnight stays for extended periods to support job sites throughout Ohio and surrounding states.

Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities

• Conducts vehicle/equipment inspections
• Conducts preventative maintenance and repair on vehicle/equipment
• Identifies, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems
• Evaluates equipment failures, determines cause and completes timely and effective repairs
• Uses equipment repair manuals and orders parts for repairs
• Other tasks assigned as needed

Skills & Requirements

• Possesses mechanical/electrical/hydraulic knowledge on various types of construction equipment
• Self-motivated, responsible, able to work in all weather conditions
• Excellent problem solving and diagnostic ability
• Strong communication skills
• Moderate computer skills
  
• Must have working knowledge of various equipment diagnostic software
• Welding skills a plus
• Must be able to stay out of town as required
• Safe clean driving record

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
