A leading construction equipment company is seeking a Field Mechanic responsible for vehicle and equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs. Candidates should have at least 5 years of hands-on repair experience and a strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. The role requires regular travel and the ability to stay out of town as needed, along with a Class B CDL. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on equipment repair experience is necessary.
  • Having a Class B CDL is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct vehicle/equipment inspections.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems.
  • Evaluate equipment failures and determine causes.
  • Order parts for repairs and complete other assigned tasks.

Job description

The Field Mechanic position is responsible for vehicle/equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs of vehicles and equipment.

This position requires regular travel and overnight stays for extended periods to support job sites throughout Ohio and surrounding states.

Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Conduct vehicle/equipment inspections
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and repair on vehicle/equipment
  • Identify, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems
  • Evaluate equipment failures, determine cause and complete timely and effective repairs
  • Use equipment repair manuals and order parts for repairs
  • Other tasks assigned as needed
Skills & Requirements
  • Possesses mechanical/electrical/hydraulic knowledge on various types of construction equipment
  • Self-motivated, responsible, able to work in all weather conditions
  • Excellent problem solving and diagnostic ability
  • Strong communication skills
  • Moderate computer skills
  • Must have working knowledge of various equipment diagnostic software
  • Welding skills a plus
  • Must be able to stay out of town as required
  • Safe clean driving record
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on equipment repair
  • Dealer or manufacturer training desirable
  • Must have Class B CDL at minimum
