Job summary

The Beaver Excavating Co. is seeking a Field Mechanic to inspect and maintain fleet vehicles and heavy equipment at our Raleigh, NC site. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, perform repairs, and order parts as required.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 5+ years hands-on repair experience, CDL Class B, and strong communication and problem-solving skills. Able to travel/out of town as needed and maintain a safe driving record.

Qualifications

• Dealer or manufacturer training desirable.
• Must have Class B CDL at minimum.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Field Mechanic position is responsible for vehicle/equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs of vehicles and equipment.

Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities

• Conducts vehicle/equipment inspections
• Conducts preventative maintenance and repair on vehicle/equipment
• Identifies, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems
• Evaluates equipment failures, determines cause and completes timely and effective repairs
• Uses equipment repair manuals and orders parts for repairs
• Other tasks assigned as needed

Skills & Requirements

• Possesses mechanical/electrical/hydraulic knowledge on various types of construction equipment
• Self-motivated, responsible, able to work in all weather conditions
• Excellent problem solving and diagnostic ability
• Strong communication skills
• Moderate computer skills
  
• Must have working knowledge of various equipment diagnostic software
• Welding skills a plus
• Must be able to stay out of town as required
• Safe clean driving record

Education & Experience
