Job summary

UES is hiring for Construction Materials Testing field technicians in Memphis. You will work outdoors on active construction sites, test concrete, soils, and other materials, and help deliver accurate field results.

Entry-level to senior positions available with certifications like ACI, ICC, NICET. Travel up to 70% and close coordination with engineers and project managers. High school diploma required; relevant field experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of field experience in construction materials testing.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors.
• Willingness to travel up to 70%.
• Knowledge of ASTM standards and soil classifications.
• Ability to perform civil engineering calculations.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing on construction materials including soil compaction, concrete slump, air content, temperature, and cylinder sampling.
• Conduct density testing using nuclear gauges or sand cone methods.
• Observe and document field activities in accordance with project specifications and standards.
• Collect samples for laboratory testing and deliver them with proper chain-of-custody.
• Prepare daily field reports and submit documentation promptly.
• Communicate field findings with project managers, engineers, and contractors.
• Ensure equipment is calibrated and maintained per QC standards.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain a safe on-site and lab environment.
• Vehicle maintenance, inspection, and adherence to safety policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
