Job summary

S&ME is seeking an Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Greensboro, NC team. You will learn to test soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate, ensuring materials meet quality and safety standards for diverse projects.

You will train on-site with practical, hands-on experience, perform field and laboratory tests, and support inspections under IBC and related certifications. Strong English communication and a driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to communicate effectively in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• Basic understanding of math concepts related to weight, volume, pressure, and units of measurement.
• Willingness to complete a background check, driving record check and drug screen upon offer of employment.

Responsibilities

• Start with concrete testing and sampling, then move to soils, asphalt, and masonry.
• Train with on-the-job training and certification support through ACI and ICC.
• Work outdoors year-round and collaborate with crews on different sites.
• Conduct and document tests on construction materials and ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated.
• Perform inspections of construction materials per IBC and act as a Special Inspection agent.
