Job summary

Benchmark, a division of National Underground Group, is hiring for a Locate Technician to locate underground facilities and coordinate with crews and homeowners. You will use specialized equipment, read maps, and determine efficient routes in both rural and urban areas, ensuring accuracy and safety throughout all locate tasks.

Willingness to train for locator certification, ability to lift 50 pounds, and readiness to work outdoors on-call are essential.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn; instructor-led training is required to receive locator certification.
• Ability to drive local roads, work outdoors, and operate independently.
• Ability to perform locate duties on or off hours when on call.
• Excellent communication skills and strong work ethic.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and walk up to 5 miles daily.

Responsibilities

• Use mechanical/technical equipment to locate underground facilities such as gas, electric, water lines and more.
• Communicate with managers, excavation crews, and homeowners daily to discuss locate issues.
• Read maps and blueprints to ensure accurate location of utilities.
• Determine efficient route to each locate in rural and urban areas.
• Remove and replace manhole lids.
