Job summary

Line Quest seeks a detail-oriented Locator to join our field operations. The Locate Technician will identify and mark underground utilities to support safe excavation and construction activities on various sites.

You will interpret maps and drawings, operate locating equipment, and coordinate with contractors while maintaining thorough records. This on-site role requires outdoor work in diverse weather and a commitment to safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus.
• Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred.
• Familiarity with underground utility systems and locating equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground utilities using specialized equipment.
• Interpret maps, blueprints, and drawings to identify utility locations.
• Communicate effectively with contractors, utility companies, and other stakeholders to coordinate locating activities.
• Maintain accurate records of located utilities and provide detailed reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all locating activities.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of locating equipment.
• Respond promptly to locate requests and complete assignments within designated timeframes.
