Job summary

Benchmark, a division of National Underground Group, seeks a Locate Technician to locate underground utilities and communicate with crews and homeowners. You will interpret tickets, read maps, and determine efficient routes while ensuring safety and customer satisfaction.

The role requires fitness for outdoor work, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to learn with on-the-job training. Competitive hourly pay and benefits offered.

Responsibilities

• Use mechanical/technical equipment to locate underground facilities (gas, water, electric, fiber, etc.).
• Communicate with managers, excavation crews, and homeowners about locate issues.
• Interpret job orders and respond to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Read maps/blueprints to locate utilities.
• Determine efficient routes for each locate in urban and rural areas.
• Remove and replace manhole lids.
