Job summary

RTI International is seeking part-time Field Interviewers in Asheville, NC to recruit participants for the NSDUH study. The role involves traveling to communities, conducting interviews, and administering surveys using RTI equipment.

Training occurs before data collection, and work hours are evenings/weekends with a flexible schedule. Compensation includes $20 per hour, plus a Health and Welfare stipend of $4.98 per hour (up to 40 hours/week).

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Effective communication skills through speech and listening.
• Fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking.
• Available for entire training and data collection period.
• Able to complete training successfully.
• Must have a valid US driver’s license and access to a personal automobile for business use.
• Comfortable using RTI issued tablet, laptop and related equipment.
• Access to password-protected Wi‑Fi for data transmissions and admin tasks.
• Able to keep project information confidential.
• Willing to work in various weather conditions and after dark.
• Regular access to computer with webcam or internet-enabled device for training and virtual meetings.
• Physical ability to carry up to 13 pounds and perform related tasks.
• Variable work schedule as dictated by quarterly schedule.

Responsibilities

• Travel frequently to recruit study participants.
• Conduct in-person discussions and answer questions about the study.
• Adhere to a field schedule and complete data collection tasks.
• Administer computer-assisted interviews and collect confidential information.
• Transmit data as scheduled and complete time/expense reports.
• Attend virtual and weekly field team meetings.
• Maintain equipment and safeguard incentives and materials.
• Work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Support field observations and trainings.
