Job summary

RTI International is seeking part-time Field Interviewers to support the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). You will contact households, conduct interviews, and communicate the importance of participation. Ability to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends, is essential.

Training and field observations are part of the role. The position involves travel, data collection, and handling confidential information using RTI equipment.

Qualifications

• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
• Fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking
• Available for entire training and data collection period
• Able to complete training successfully
• Must have a valid US driver’s license and a reliable personal automobile for business use
• Comfortable using RTI issued tablet, laptop and other equipment
• Access to password-protected Wi‑Fi for data transmissions and admin tasks
• Able to keep project information confidential
• Able to work in various weather conditions and after dark
• Regular access to a computer with webcam or internet-enabled device for training and meetings
• Physical demands including lifting up to 13 pounds
• Variable work schedule as dictated by quarterly assignments

Responsibilities

• Traveling frequently to locations to recruit study participants
• Making in-person contact with respondents to discuss the study and obtain participation
• Approaching households without a prior appointment
• Adhering to schedule set by Field Supervisor for contact times
• Administering computer-assisted interviews and standardized questionnaires
• Transmitting data as scheduled
• Safeguarding project-issued equipment and participant incentives
• Submitting timely Time & Expense reports
