Job summary

Prime Controls is seeking an Instrumentation Technician II to perform troubleshooting and repair on electronic instrumentation for large-scale industrial processes. You will assist with system integration, identify components for PLC/SCADA, program PLCs and HMIs, test logic, and generate documentation for development and start-up.

The position requires strong knowledge of AC/DC drives, PID control, Ethernet, and field testing, with travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years' experience as an instrumentation technician.
• Knowledge of AC/DC drives operation.
• Strong understanding of speed feedback devices theory and operation.
• Understanding of temperature control and temperature components.
• Good understanding of PID and control loops.
• Knowledge of Ethernet communications and connections.
• Proficient in PLC and HMI systems, including communications drivers and connections.
• Thorough understanding of electrical components and electronic devices.
• Ability to diagnose defective components, motors, drives and electronics.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs instrumentation and automation services including calibration, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Troubleshoots instrumentation functionality and I/O.
• Repairs instrumentation and calibrates with meters and tools.
• Sets up new instrumentation and calibrates using schematics and drawings.
• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
• Assists with installation and maintenance projects for automating large industrial processes.
• Uses computerized equipment to perform testing and produce reports.
• Works with engineers testing and commissioning PLC systems.
• Travels to customer sites to provide services.
