Job summary

Dan Cummins Ford Lincoln Fort Polk, LA seeks a Construction Inspector (SCA) for the Military Services Group to coordinate, inspect and assist with the construction of water and wastewater facilities in accordance with approved specifications and practices. You will serve as the primary field contact between the Construction Manager and General Contractors.

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience in water/wastewater distribution and construction.
• Experience inspecting water and wastewater facilities; large infrastructure projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and contract documents.
• Strong math skills with units, rates, ratios, areas and volumes.
• Proficient communication of technical information to contractors and officials.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of the construction and maintenance of water distribution systems and sewer collection facilities.
• Interpret and enforce contract documents and specifications; communicate deficiencies to appropriate personnel.
• Utilize testing procedures, inspection protocols and construction inspection techniques to perform QA/QC functions; recognize potential conflicts with other underground facilities and utilities.
• Work with contractors to schedule utility outages in accordance with company contract terms and customer requirements; coordinate and approve contractor activities.
• Participate in construction meetings, providing information on schedule compliance, change orders and coordination; maintain standards by coordinating with engineering personnel and outside construction firms.
• Review contractor safety programs and enforce compliance with safety regulations; perform all functions safely, following environmental, health and safety policies and using proper personal protective equipment.
• Compile information, prepare construction reports and review as-built drawings; assist with permits, maps, charts or related records.
• Perform other related functions assigned or as they arise.
