Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. seeks a Capital Project Inspector to oversee water and wastewater construction on military installations, ensuring work aligns with plans, specs, permits, and safety standards.

You will prepare daily reports, maintain as-built drawings, and coordinate with contractors and base personnel. Strong communication, detail orientation, and field analysis are essential for timely and compliant project delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of water distribution and/or wastewater collections installation or related construction work or inspection preferred.
• Must obtain entry-level water distribution and wastewater collection certifications within first year.
• Must have OSHA 30-hour construction qualification or complete within 6 months of hire.
• Must complete competent person training within first six months.

Responsibilities

• Ensure construction projects are completed per plans, specs, and approved materials.
• Inspect construction activities, enforce safety and OSHA/IDG compliance.
• Verify project permits requirements are met.
• Prepare daily inspection reports and project field reports.
• Update as-built drawings and document project progress.
• Recommend scope changes to management for cost or schedule impact.
• Conduct field checks on preliminary plans for accuracy.
• Verify quantities against pay applications from contractors.
• Document site conditions with photos/videos as required.
• Perform field punch list inspections with subcontractors.
• Interface with base personnel on safety matters and document concerns.
• Promote goodwill with stakeholders and maintain professional image.
• Review Risk Management reports and ensure adherence in the field.
