Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field inspector to join our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group and support project sites in multiple states. This on-site role offers hands-on inspection work and an opportunity to directly impact project success.

Ideal candidates hold a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, strong English communication, basic math, and familiarity with MS Office. Some travel (20–40%) may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Basic arithmetic knowledge.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review daily contractor reports and verify quality procedures against the Quality Control Plan.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract; measure quantities of materials placed.
• May perform sampling and in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt pavement.
