Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field inspector to join our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team. This on-site role offers exposure to varied projects across multiple locations and a chance to directly impact project success.

You will work under supervision, perform inspections, review contractor work and QC procedures, and help ensure compliance with plans and specs. A driver’s license and basic math skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 0 years of experience; additional relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of the day-to-day work performed by the contractor and review daily reports.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract; measure quantities of materials placed.
• May perform sampling and in-place testing of soils, base, concrete, and asphalt.
