Job summary

CDM Smith is hiring for an on-site field inspection role supporting transportation construction projects across multiple locations. The position involves inspecting traffic control, environmental controls, and construction methods, with supervision by senior inspectors and engineers.

The candidate will verify contractor work and daily reports, review quality control procedures, and may perform sampling and testing of soils and materials. Travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on duties and project demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Determine acceptability of day‑to‑day contractor work and review daily reports.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract; measure quantities of materials.
• May perform sampling and in‑place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt pavement.
