Job summary

UES, a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and materials testing, seeks an Inspector I to perform basic inspections and material testing on construction projects. You will work under direct supervision to develop technical inspection skills and industry knowledge while supporting field operations.

The role requires travel up to 40%, outdoor work in varied environments, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to read blueprints and use reporting tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; welding or vocational training preferred.
• 0–2 years in materials testing or inspections.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical documents.
• Certification in inspection-related fields preferred but not required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic field and laboratory tests on construction materials (e.g., concrete, soil, steel).
• Document observations and findings in inspection reports.
• Communicate job status and results to dispatch, field supervisors, or project engineers.
• Adhere to safety protocols at all times.
• Operate and maintain assigned motor vehicles and perform routine maintenance.
• Assist senior inspectors with more complex inspections.
• Pursue certifications and technical training to advance inspection skills.
