Job summary

Certerra - Southern Engineering is seeking a Special Inspector to oversee inspections and testing of construction materials on active sites in North Carolina, ensuring compliance with project documents. The role requires ACI/ICC certifications and a valid driver’s license.

Essential duties include inspecting reinforced concrete, grout, SFRM, post-tension work, and foundations, with meticulous documentation and adherence to safety standards. Bachelor’s degree preferred but experience matters most.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Reinforced Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspection and testing
• Reinforcement inspection for compliance with project documents
• Testing for slump, air content, unit weight, temperature
• Molding of compressive strength specimens - Core drilling
• SFRM inspection and testing
• Monitoring installation of deep foundations (e.g. piles, caissons, etc.)
• Observation and documentation of load testing
• Post-tension concrete inspection and testing
• Bolting & Structural Steel inspection and testing
• Soil/Aggregate inspection and testing
