Job summary
Certerra-Southern Engineering seeks a Special Inspector to oversee inspections and testing of construction materials on active sites in Charlotte, NC. Expect adherence to project documents and strong certification credentials.
Role covers reinforced concrete, SFRM, deep foundations, post-tension checks, bolting and steel inspections, soil/aggregate testing, and thorough documentation. Driver's license is required for site access.
Qualifications
- Must hold ACI Field Technician Level I Certification.
- Must have ICC reinforced concrete certification or equivalent.
- ICC structural certifications preferred (masonry, welding, steel & bolting).
- OSHA 10+ year worksite safety awareness is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
- Reinforced Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspection and testing.
- Reinforcement inspection for compliance with project documents.
- Testing for slump, air content, unit weight, temperature.
- Molding of compressive strength specimens – Core drilling.
- SMR/SFRM inspection and testing with substrate verification.
- Monitoring deep foundations, ground improvement, load testing.
- Post-tension tendon layout checks and elongation records.
- Bolting/structural steel inspection and verification of connections.
- Soil/aggregate density testing and proofrolling observation.
