Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Reinforced Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspection and testing.
• Testing for slump, air content, unit weight, temperature.
• Molding of compressive strength specimens - Core drilling.
• SFRM inspection and testing: substrate verification, thickness, density, bond.
• Monitor deep foundations, ground improvement, load testing.
• Post-tension concrete inspection and testing: tendon layout, lift-off pressures, elongations.
• Bolting & Structural Steel inspection: bolt connections, steel framing, size/type checks.
• Soil/Aggregate inspection: density, compaction, moisture, bearing capacity, excavation quantification.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Certerra-Southern Engineering is hiring a Special Inspector to oversee the performance of inspections and testing of various construction materials and/or systems on active construction sites to verify compliance with project documents.

Minimum Qualifications:

• American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician Level I Certification
• Practical knowledge of the International Code Council (ICC) Reinforced Concrete Certification
• Combination of certifications in ICC’s and/or AWS-CWI and/or ASNT (UT-MT-PT)
• Occupational Safety and Health Administration. (OSHA), 10-Hour Certification.
• A current and valid driver's license that will allow insurance through the company insurance provider.

Preferred Qualifications: (any of the below; not all are required)

• ICC Reinforced Concrete
• ICC Structural Masonry
• ICC Structural Welding
• ICC Structural Steel & Bolting
• ICC SFRM
• Post Tension Institute (PTI) Level II or higher certification
• Pertinent National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologies (NICET) certifications
• Exhibit excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and/or within Team environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reinforced Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspection and testing
  • Reinforcement inspection for compliance with project documents
  • Testing for slump, air content, unit weight, temperature
  • Molding of compressive strength specimens - Core drilling
• Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Material (SFRM) inspection and testing
  • Verifying suitable substrate
  • Testing for applied thickness, material density, and bond
• Special Foundations
  • Monitoring installation of deep foundations (e.g. piles, caissons, etc.).
  • Monitoring ground improvement applications (e.g. aggregate piers, compaction grouting, etc.).
  • Observation and documentation of load testing.
• Post-tension concrete inspection and testing
  • Check for proper tendon layout
  • Verify lift-off pressures and record elongations.
  • Monitoring for proper concrete placement techniques
• Bolting & Structural Steel inspection and testing
  • Inspection of bolted connections and steel framing joint details
  • Steel and material size and type verification
• Soil/Aggregate inspection and testing
  • Testing density/compaction
  • Observing proofrolling
  • Verifying proper moisture content
  • Checking bearing capacity for foundation support
  • Excavation quantification

Education/Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED Required
• Bachelor's Degree Preferred
