Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical Technician to support our systems integration and engineering services team in field environments focused on upstream and midstream oil and gas. The role includes installation, commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, electrical, and control systems.

You will lead field activities, interpret electrical drawings, and work with a multidisciplinary team to meet project goals while ensuring safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years' instrumentation and electrical experience in industrial oil and gas environments.
• Experience installing instrumentation and electrical systems across project phases.
• Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting PLCs, RTUs, and EFMs.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50% to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain electrical power, control, instrumentation, and safety systems in upstream and midstream oil and gas operations.
• Install conduit and MC-HL cable per NEC and project specs.
• Configure, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot field instrumentation and control systems.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, RTUs, EFMs, and related equipment.
• Coordinate with management, engineering, operations, systems, and field personnel to deliver projects.
• Provide day-to-day guidance to apprentice crew members and ensure safe, compliant field activities.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and reports.
