The University of Georgia is seeking a Field Research Assistant (Agricultural Technician I) to support the Small Grains Breeding and Genetics program. This part-time role (0.49 FTE) involves nursery preparation, greenhouse maintenance, data recording, planting, crossing, harvesting, and basic laboratory tasks in a fast-paced research environment.

Based in the Griffin Area, the position requires travel to UGA research centers across Georgia during planting and harvesting seasons, lifting up to 30

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience recording data and maintaining nurseries is preferred.
• Ability to work in greenhouse and field settings as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Seed Prep – Process seeds of harvested samples and prepare for planting.
• Greenhouse Activities – Assist with planting, crosses, harvesting, and maintenance of greenhouses.
• Field Work – Assist with planting, recording data accurately, and maintaining nurseries.
• Laboratory – Assist with preparation of lab work for breeding research.
