Job summary

The University of Georgia in Griffin Area seeks a Temporary Field/Lab Assistant to support greenhouse, field plots, extension and teaching activities. This role involves indoor and outdoor work with minimal supervision, occasional travel to research plots, and data entry using basic software.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and strong communication, interpersonal skills, and mechanical aptitude. Training will be provided on all processes and equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; training provided on all processes and equipment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and general mechanical aptitude.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and perform indoor/outdoor tasks in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Nursery/Greenhouse (50%): potting, pruning, weeding, grafting, seeding, data entry and field plot maintenance; watering, fertilizer and pesticide applications.
• Laboratory Work (25%): washing dishes, preparing samples, data entry and equipment maintenance.
• Teaching and Extension (25%): assist with weed science lab prep and editing extension publications.
