Job summary

University of Georgia is seeking a Temporary Lab/Research assistant in Griffin to support routine lab and greenhouse tasks. Responsibilities include media preparation, fungal culturing, DNA extraction, PCR, seed thrashing, and planting with standard safety practices.

The role operates Monday–Friday, 8–5, in a non-exempt, on-site setting. Requires at least two years of high school and some lab/field experience; physical work is expected outdoors.

Qualifications

• Two years of high school required or completing high school coursework.
• Some experience in field work and lab work is preferred.
• Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Make media for lab use.
• Culture fungi in controlled conditions.
• Extract DNA and perform PCR.
• Thrash seeds as part of lab protocol.
• Plant seeds and monitor growth in greenhouse conditions.
