Job summary

Dynamic Engineering Consultants, PC is seeking an Engineering Technician to perform construction phase testing and inspections on active projects. You will prepare accurate field notes, SIRs, daily summaries, and project documentation under the supervision of senior staff.

The role requires hands-on experience with soil testing, site visits, and coordination with contractors. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field is preferred, with 0–4 years’ field/ lab experience and a valid

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or construction related field preferred.
• 0-4 years’ experience in construction inspection field or laboratory testing.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicle.
• Must have hands-on experience with metric and English tools.
• American Concrete Institute (ACI) concrete field-testing technician certificate, accredited construction inspection/materials testing certificates, OSHA 40, OSHA 10, and/or American Portable Nuclear Gauge Association (APNGA) gauge training preferred.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to understand general computer commands and learn supporting software for entering field data, laboratory data, timesheets, etc.
• Independent and critical thinking abilities.
• Self-starter who can work independently and with team members.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits, testing, and inspection services at construction job sites.
• Conduct laboratory testing on soil samples, such as, physical index properties, permeability and moisture-density relationship.
• Assist geotechnical engineers to complete site investigation activities such as soil borings and/or test pit excavations, field permeability/percolation tests, and other supporting tasks as deemed necessary to maintain the geotechnical department operation.
• Pickup and drop-off samples to laboratories.
• Reviewing and referencing project documents including site-civil, structural, architectural plans, geotechnical reports, and topographic surveys.
• Conduct structural steel and steel reinforcement inspections.
• Perform footing subgrade inspections to review soils composition and bearing capacity and/or determine depth of overexexvation for unsuitable subgrade soils; Earthwork oversight (monitoring overexcavation of unsuitable materials and compaction testing of structural fill material).
• Communicate effectively and efficiently with contractors and project manager.
• Maintain the instruments in calibrated condition, collecting and reporting data to the manager, managing lab supply/inventory, and assisting in preparation of reports/presentations.
• Ensure that safety policies and procedures are followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
