Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Geotechnical Field Technician to perform field and laboratory testing, sampling and reporting. You will gain hands-on experience with soil, aggregates and concrete testing while documenting findings per standard engineering practices.

On-site work at active construction sites is common, with opportunities for paid certifications and career advancement as you increase your competency through internal and external programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent; ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience.
• Must be able to carry 40–70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height.

Responsibilities

• Layout of borings and test pits using surveying and GPS; observe and classify test pits and soils; perform hand auger borings, DCP testing, soil logging, and other geotechnical field work.
• Classify samples from drilling operations; reduce GPS and other geotechnical data for use in reports.
• May perform department administrative duties and work in the construction materials testing department.
• Work on active construction sites with field observation, testing, sampling and inspection of soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt and steel placements.
