Job summary

Qualifications

• Generator service and repair experience strongly preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and service manuals.
• Experience with control panels, transfer switches, and generator controllers preferred.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude and comfort working with tools and test equipment.
• Ability to perform physical labor throughout the workday.
• Ability to understand and follow service work orders and technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, subcontractors, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on standby and portable generator systems, including oil, filter, spark plug, battery, and coolant service.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and fuel system faults on generator systems.
• Troubleshoot control panels, controllers, transfer switches, and automatic transfer equipment.
• Perform load bank testing and verify generator performance under load.
• Test, adjust, and replace generator components, sensors, and accessories as required.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and manufacturer technical literature accurately.
• Document parts used and recommend follow-up repairs based on field findings.
• Support generator startup and commissioning as required.
• Respond to emergency and after-hours service calls when customers lose power.
