Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a field-based Fire Alarm Technician to inspect, test, and service Simplex systems and related products. You will proactively maintain safety systems, document findings, and meet inspection schedules, ensuring reliable operation for customers.

You will work with low voltage equipment, leverage tools like a multimeter, and advance toward NICET Level I certification after one year. This role requires physical capability and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Documented experience in low voltage electrical systems and Fire and/or Security Systems experience.
• Valid driver6s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of the Inspector Entre9e Course (Electrical or Sprinkler).
• Ability to achieve NICET Level I certification after 1 year on the job.
• Demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting systems.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including on occasion.
• High level of customer service.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Self-starter who can work with supervision.
• Ability to adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
• Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, service, and perform preventative maintenance on Simplex Fire Alarm Systems and similar product lines.
• Work with low voltage wiring and devices for operation of low voltage equipment.
• Document service acknowledgements and inspection records accurately.
• Follow and maintain a structured inspection schedule.
• Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents via laptop/mobile devices.
• Take ownership of each inspection and maintain professional customer focus.
• Learn quickly, apply coaching, and seek practical improvements daily.
