Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to inspect, test, service, and perform preventative maintenance on Simplex Fire Alarm Systems and related product lines. You will ensure life-safety systems operate reliably, document work accurately, and complete inspections on schedule.

You will work in the field with low voltage wiring, use a multimeter and hand tools for minor repairs, and uphold safety and customer service standards while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Documented experience in low voltage electrical systems and Fire and/or Security Systems experience.
• Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of the Inspector Entrée Course (Electrical or Sprinkler).
• Ability to achieve NICET Level I certification after 1 year on the job.
• Troubleshooting aptitude and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment up to 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, including ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, service, and perform preventative maintenance on Simplex Fire Alarm Systems and similar product lines.
• Work with low voltage wiring and devices for operation of equipment.
• Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding using laptops or paper.
• Follow the inspection schedule and maintain documentation accurately.
• Learn quickly, apply coaching, and improve daily.
