Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Construction Technician to support daily construction and maintenance of our fiber optic network in the Dover, DE area. This field-based role requires physical stamina and a safety-first mindset, and it offers an opportunity to represent IQ Fiber professionally while delivering reliable service.

You will install, repair, and relocate conduit and fiber, locate underground cables, and work with hand tools and basic trenching equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; minimum of 1 year of telecommunications construction experience preferred.
• Familiarity with fiber optic cable installation, conduit work, and underground plant maintenance; ability to construct small networks using off-the-shelf solutions.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clear MVR, auto insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
• Must pass a standard background check and drug screening.
• Must be available for a 24/7 operation including overtime, after-hours, and weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic network infrastructure and underground facilities.
• Remove and replace hand holes, vaults, and fiber markers; repair damaged underground plant as needed.
• Install, repair, and maintain inside fiber optic cables and MDU boxes.
• Locate and mark existing underground cables to protect infrastructure during excavation and construction.
• Assist with fiber cable damage restoration and troubleshoot network systems to minimize downtime.
• Ensure OSHA safety standards and local regulations are followed; maintain accountability for safety and quality.
• Deliver quality service and maintain professional demeanor in client environments; keep work areas clean.
• Maintain assigned vehicle in a clean, professional manner and present IQ Fiber clothing standards.
