IQ Fiber is seeking a Construction Technician to support daily fiber optic construction and maintenance in Prince Frederick, MD. This field-based role requires physical stamina, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work outdoors in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, fiber installation experience, a valid driver's license, and the willingness to pass background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1 year telecommunications construction experience preferred.
• Familiarity with fiber optic cable installation, conduit work, and underground plant maintenance.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clear MVR, auto insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
• Pass a standard background check and drug screening.
• Available for a 24/7 operation including mandatory overtime, after-hours, and weekend work; outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic network infrastructure.
• Dig by hand or with trenching equipment to place cable underground and relocate conduit as needed.
• Remove and replace hand holes, vaults, and fiber markers; repair underground plant when issues arise.
• Locate and mark existing underground cables to protect infrastructure during excavation.
• Ensure OSHA safety standards and professional field conduct on all assignments.
