Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Construction Technician to perform daily construction and maintenance of fiber optic network infrastructure in a field-based, outdoor setting. The role requires physical stamina, safety-mindedness, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

You will support residential and commercial projects, locate underground lines, and maintain professional field presence. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, familiarity with fiber installation

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; 1 year telecom construction experience preferred.
Familiarity with fiber optic cable installation, conduit work, and underground plant maintenance.
Must pass background check and drug screening; valid driver's license with clean MVR.
Ability to lift 75 pounds, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic network infrastructure, including digging and trenching to place cable underground.
Remove and replace hand holes, vaults, and fiber markers; repair damaged underground plant as needed.
Install, repair, and maintain inside fiber optic cables and MDU boxes.
Accurately locate and mark existing underground fiber cables based on tickets.
Assist with fiber cable damage restoration and troubleshoot network systems to minimize downtime.
Ensure OSHA safety standards and company regulations are followed.
