Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a hands-on inspector to perform on-site maintenance and safety inspections of heavy equipment. You will document conditions, identify repairs, and assist with maintenance tasks as required.

Key responsibilities include tracking repairs, coordinating with DOTD staff and vendors, and recommending equipment purchases or EOCP guideline updates to improve maintenance practices. Strong attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in the repair, inspection, or operation of mobile equipment or heavy mobile equipment.
• Three years of experience in the inspection of automotive equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site preventive maintenance and safety inspections. Document equipment conditions, recommend corrective actions, and assist with repairs as needed.
• Monitor and track equipment repairs performed by DOTD personnel and outside vendors to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Collaborate with managers and maintenance supervisors to assess equipment needs and provide recommendations for equipment purchases and specification updates.
• Maintain detailed equipment inventory records, including asset locations, maintenance history, repair records, and current mechanical condition.
• Evaluate equipment maintenance products, assist with updates to Equipment Operations and Control Program (EOCP) guidelines, and recommend improvements to maintenance practices and product specifications.
