Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking an on-site inspector to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include documenting inspection findings, coordinating repairs, and advising on maintenance needs.

The role requires three years of mobile equipment or automotive inspection experience and a valid Louisiana Class B CDL. Work is on-site with varied hours; compensation is $22.52 per hour.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in the repair, inspection, or operation of mobile equipment or heavy mobile equipment.
• Three years of experience in the inspection of automotive equipment.
• Valid Louisiana Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site preventive maintenance and safety inspections; document conditions and suggest repairs.
• Monitor repairs by DOTD personnel and outside vendors to ensure timely completion.
• Collaborate with managers to assess equipment needs and advise on purchases and EOCP updates.
• Maintain detailed equipment inventory, including locations, history, and current condition.
• Evaluate maintenance products and update EOCP guidelines; propose process improvements.

Job Duties:

• Conduct on-site preventive maintenance and safety inspections. Document equipment conditions, recommend corrective actions, and assist with repairs as needed.
• Monitor and track equipment repairs performed by DOTD personnel and outside vendors to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Collaborate with managers and maintenance supervisors to assess equipment needs and provide recommendations for equipment purchases and specification updates.
• Maintain detailed equipment inventory records, including asset locations, maintenance history, repair records, and current mechanical condition.
• Evaluate equipment maintenance products, assist with updates to Equipment Operations and Control Program (EOCP) guidelines, and recommend improvements to maintenance practices and product specifications.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled by probation, promotion or detail to special duty.
