Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking a Construction Inspector to assist professional engineers and technicians with construction inspection work. The role requires self-motivation, the ability to interpret unforeseen conditions, and participation in structured training programs and continuing education.

Work involves inspecting construction, preparing field diaries and reports, and maintaining project data in DOTD systems.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to interpret unforeseen conditions as they arise.
• Willingness to participate in DOTD training and continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction work for compliance with departmental policies, standards, specifications, and project plans.
• Complete and process construction documentation such as field diaries, reports, and estimates.
• Enter, review, and maintain construction project data in departmental systems.
• Apply DOTD engineering policies and procedures while working in the Project Engineer’s office and at construction sites.
• Serve as the primary construction inspector in assigned areas of specialization or certification.
