Job summary

Florida Department of Health is seeking an Environmental Specialist III to perform comprehensive environmental inspections and plan reviews across Broward County. This on-site role requires technical expertise in OSTDS, well construction, water quality, and public health programs.

The candidate will collect samples, review plans, and issue permits while coordinating with engineers, contractors, and public stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and safe water standards throughout Broward

Qualifications

Current Florida Department of Health employee or related eligibility.
2+ years in interpretation of rules, codes or regulations.
Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or related field.
Valid driver’s license and reliable automobile for field work.

Responsibilities

Conduct environmental inspections to ensure compliance with state/local laws and rules.
Perform OSTDS plan reviews and issue/deny permits; conduct field inspections.
Evaluate soil type, SHWT, setbacks per Chapter 64E-6, F.A.C.; prepare reports.
Monitor Well Construction, Well Surveillance, LU Public Water System and beach water quality.
Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and public; collect samples and GPS data.
