Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County seeks an Environmental Specialist I to conduct inspections of regulated facilities for compliance with Florida statutes and local codes. This role covers water well permitting, pool safety, onsite wastewater systems, sanitation in mobile home parks, and related programs.

Based in the North County Environmental Health office, the position requires extensive outdoor field work, travel within Sarasota County, and occasional work at the Venice

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in environmental health, public health, environmental science, or physical/biological science with 30 credit hours in physical/natural sciences and math/statistics; two years’ environmental health experience.

Responsibilities

Inspect regulated facilities for compliance with Florida statutes and local codes.
Perform field inspections across multiple environmental health areas (water wells, pools, onsite wastewater, sanitation).
Prepare reports and communicate findings to supervisors and stakeholders.
