The position requires a bachelor’s degree in environmental health/science, an OSTDS certification, and a valid U.S. driver’s license. Occasional outdoor work and travel to counties are expected.

Qualifications

• A valid U.S. driver's license is required.
• Bachelor's degree with major coursework in environmental health/science is required (30 semester hours/40 quarter hours).
• Certification as a Certified Environmental Health Professional (OSTDS) from Florida Department of Health is required.
• Must be willing and able to work outdoors and lift 25 pounds for 50 feet.

Responsibilities

• Provide surge support to county health departments for the OSTDS program.
• Review OSTDS construction/repair permit materials in the Environmental Health Database (EHD) and issue permits or request missing information.
• Review OSTDS performance-based and advanced treatment unit applications and issue permits as appropriate.
• Travel to counties for fieldwork when required, including surveys and soil profiles.
• Participate in DEP-sponsored OSTDS training and stay proficient in code and policy.
• Participate in response efforts and deploy to other counties for post-storm assessments.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
