Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Field Engineering Technician to provide hands-on support for installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and deployment of complex electro‑mechanical systems in both laboratory and field environments. The role requires travel to customer and project sites up to 50% of the time to support installations, inspections, upgrades, testing, and sustainment activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2–5 years of experience supporting engineering, maintenance, field service, or technical operations
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to lift equipment up to 50 pounds and work in laboratory, industrial, and field environments
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%
• Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems
• Conduct troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of system and equipment failures
• Support system integration, verification, validation, and acceptance testing activities
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance procedures in accordance with established standards and technical documentation
• Collect, analyze, and document technical data, test results, and field observations
• Assist engineers in evaluating system performance and implementing technical solutions
• Coordinate with customers, engineers, project managers, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure successful project execution
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and maintenance documentation
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, security, and environmental requirements
• Travel to customer locations and operational sites as required to support project objectives
