Job summary

The State of North Carolina seeks an Engineering Technician II (S) in the District 3 Field Office, Williamston. You will support engineers in construction contract administration, perform material testing, and help coordinate field operations.

Responsibilities include diaries, reports, pay records, and occasional lead inspections on smaller projects; travel and extended hours may be required. Strong documentation and safety emphasis are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or related curriculum and two years of progressive technician level experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
• Experience with contract administration and understanding of contracts, plans and specifications.
• Proficiency with record keeping, data entry, and basic project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction contracts and administer inspections on projects.
• Lead project inspector on small to intermediate projects when needed.
• Perform material sampling and testing and document results per specs.
• Coordinate work assignments and supervise lower level technicians when required.
• Maintain diaries, reports, and records for project operations.
