Job summary

State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician II (S) to support contract administration and field inspection on construction projects in the Matthews area. The role involves testing and inspection of materials, recording data, and coordinating work with CEI staff.

The incumbent will perform standard and non-standard tests, maintain diaries and reports, and may supervise lower-level technicians.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or related curriculum with two years of technician experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience allowed.
• Knowledge in understanding contracts, plans, standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Support CEI personnel and may lead project inspection on small to intermediate projects.
• Perform material sampling and testing per NCDOT specifications.
• Document pay records, write diaries and reports for project operations.
• Operate computer devices/iPads and enter data for reports.
