Job summary

The NC Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician II in the District 3 Field Office in Williamston, NC. You will support higher level technicians and engineers in administering construction contracts through inspection and testing of materials according to contract documents and specs.

You may lead on small to intermediate projects, supervise lower-level technicians, and ensure accurate record keeping.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Survey Technology plus two years of progressive technician-level experience.
• Experience with contract administration and understanding contracts, plans, standards, and specifications.
• Experience performing inspection, sampling and testing materials (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with specifications.

Responsibilities

• Administer construction contracts via construction inspection.
• Assist in supervision of CEI personnel and coordination of work assignments.
• Perform material sampling and testing and keep accurate records.
• Operate computers/tablets to enter reports and data; maintain safety protocols on-site.
